(August 1, 2012 - Duluth, MN) The University of Minnesota-Duluth Men’s Lacrosse program has announced that Head Coach Frank Clark has resigned.

Coach Clark joined the UMD staff in the winter of 2002 and has been an anchor for the program ever since.  Clark was Head Coach of the program during the 2011 and 2012 seasons.  His leadership at the helm helped the Bulldogs earn their 6th and 7th consecutive UMLC titles and two trips to the MCLA National Championships. Coach Clark Commented “It has been an honor to coach this program over the past decade. I want to thank every person involved for all that they have done and continue to do to make UMD one of the top programs in the country”.

The UMD Men’s Lacrosse team would like express their gratification for the 10 plus seasons of service that Coach Clark has given to the program.  Leaving the program better than you found it is the goal of everyone who has been a part of the UMD Lacrosse family, and Coach Clark has far exceeded that.  “It has been a pleasure to have both played for and coached with Coach Clark” stated Sam Litman.  “Coach Clark’s leadership and management skills have helped this team continuously raise the bar.  We wish Frank and his family all the best.”

The UMD Men’s Lacrosse Team has appointed Assistant Head Coach Sam Litman to Head Coach.   Coach Litman (UMD class of 2004) has been an assistant coach at UMD since 2005. He was the Defensive Coordinator the past three seasons and served as the Assistant Head Coach for the 2012 season.  Litman was a two time MCLA (previously USLMDIA) All-America goaltender and two time UMLC Defensive MVP while at UMD.  In 2011, Coach Litman was inducted into the UMD Lacrosse Hall of Fame for both his play and coaching impact at UMD and for his work with the youth lacrosse development in the region.  Coach Litman stated, “I look forward to the opportunity to continue the great traditions of the UMD Lacrosse program."
